Getting It Booked In
We run out of West Palm Beach, about seven miles from Royal Palm Beach, so a cable call here isn't a same-block trip the way it might be for a neighborhood right next to the shop. We don't promise a fixed arrival window because that depends on what else is booked that day and where the other stops are, but we do try to group Royal Palm Beach calls with other work on that side of the service area when the schedule allows it. When you call, the two things that speed up the visit are knowing whether it's one cable or two (double doors sometimes snap one side and stress the other) and whether the door is still moving at all - a cable off the drum with the door jammed halfway is a different job than one that's already come down fully.
The Complications
A snapped cable on its own is usually a clean swap. What turns it into a longer job is what the cable was doing when it let go. If the door was still open when the cable broke, the opposite side often took on uneven load and the door can come off its tracks or rack sideways in the opening - on a double door that's two cables, two drums, and sometimes a bent track to straighten or replace. We also see cables that frayed slowly against a rusted or misaligned drum rather than snapping clean; if that's the case, replacing the cable alone just sets up the same failure again, and we'll recommend swapping the drum too. One thing we won't do is replace a cable and leave a visibly cracked or bottomed-out spring in place - if the spring's at the end of its life, telling you the cable is
